Details for Fill The Truck Food Drive

Rick Collins Toyota Drives Out Hunger Food Bank of Siouxland, Inc. and Rick Collins Toyota teamed up November 1 through November 20 to fill the plates of needy families in Siouxland. Rick Collins Toyota collected donations of food and funds in an effort to “fill the truck” and also donated $50 to the Food Bank for every vehicle purchased. Rick Collins, President at Rick Collins Toyota, presented Food Bank of Siouxland with a check for $5,000 along with a truck full of food and generous cash donations from their customers. Rick Collins said “It has been a heartwarming experience for us, this is the first year of our involvement with the Food Bank of Siouxland and we look forward to doing this again next year. We would also like to Sioux City Journal thank Powell Broadcasting and Record Printing for all of their help to drive out hunger.” Linda Scheid, Executive Director of Food Bank of Siouxland, Inc., stated “We are so grateful for what Rick Collins Toyota is doing in our community. We have a challenge here in Siouxland with 12% of our 11-county population that doesn’t know where their next meal is coming from. When you are distributing over 200,000 pounds per month in an 11-county area, you know there is a need to be met and we couldn’t do it without the support of our community and Rick Collins is leading the way.” Despite reports of an improved economy, the Food Bank of Siouxland is very aware that the recession isn’t over for everyone. In fact, the Food Bank is still seeing an upward trend that has set monthly records for distribution and more people seeking food assistance than ever before in their 26 year history.
