SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa | Criminal charges have been file against a Spirit Lake, Iowa, man who led police on a high-seed chase, officials said.
Samual Perkins, 46, was charged with misdemeanor eluding, driving while suspended, not having insurance, fraudulent use of registration, obstructed view and excessive speed. He also was charged with running three stop signs.
Perkins sped off from a traffic stop on the 2700 block of Highway 9 just before 1 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office.
The chase reached speeds of 90 mph. It ended after Perkins drove over a spike strip and stopped near County Road M-56 and Highway 9, deputies said.
