CANTON, S.D. | A woman and her father are accused of kidnapping her husband and locking him in a grain bin in rural Lyon County, Iowa.
Oriana Groppetti, 32, of Visalia, Calif., was charged with felony aiding an abetting third-degree kidnapping and third-degree kidnapping.
Her father, Craig Allen Olson, 55, of Canton, S.D., was arrested for a felony charge of third-degree kidnapping.
They kidnapped Groppetti's husband from rural Lincoln County, S.D., and locked him in a grain bin in west of Larchwood, Iowa, on July 21, said Lyon County sheriff Chief Deputy Jerry Birkey.
He said the man escaped the grain bin, but was recaptured and locked in a different grain bin in the Klondike, S.D., area.
Klondike is an unincorporated area off County Road A-26 on the Iowa side of the Big Sioux River. It is on the Iowa-South Dakota border.
The man escaped a second time and ran to a local farmstead for help, Birkey said.
Investigators wouldn't disclose the motive.
Additional arrests are possible.
"We believe there were more people involved," Birkey said.
Deputies reported the incident after Groppetti's arrest in California on Friday.
