SPENCER, Iowa | Police say a 16-year-old Spencer, Iowa, boy topped 100 mph trying to flee police.
The boy was charged with single counts of eluding and reckless driving, two counts of failure to obey a stop sign, and two counts of speeding. All are misdemeanors.
He's accused of driving off from Spencer police on July 1. Clay County Sheriff's deputies located the boy's vehicle in an abandoned farm in the 1800 block of Highway 18 around 9 p.m.
Authorities say the speeding tickets were for going 71 mph and 100 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Authorities didn't say how long the chase lasted. They didn't release his name because he is a juvenile.
