STORM LAKE, Iowa | A 14-year-old boy police say used a stolen cell phone to send obscene pictures to a girl faces criminal charges.
The boy, of Alta, Iowa, was charged with misdemeanor telephone dissemination of obscene materials to a minor and fourth-degree theft.
Police found the photos while investigating a report of a cell phone stolen from a store in Storm Lake on Monday, according to a statement from Storm Lake police.
The boy's mother turned in the phone stolen from the store, but police say obscene pictures were on one of the other suspected stolen phones they also found in the boy's possession.
Police say he sent photos on one of those phones to a 13-year-old girl.
The boy was placed in juvenile detention.
