SIOUX CITY | It might have been a perfect heist, except for one little detail left behind, a cell phone.
Around 7 p.m. Monday a man ran out of Dakota PC Warehouse, 4501 Southern Hills Drive, without paying for three sets of Beat headphones by Dr. Dre, store manager Holly Tritz said. The three headphones are valued at more than $800.
Store employees quickly followed after the thief, but to no avail, she said.
“They went to chase after him and see if they could get the info on his car and he had his license plate covered with paper,” Tritz said.
Although employees were only able to see the make and model of the thief’s getaway car, they returned into the store to find something else. The thief dropped his cell phone on his way out the door.
“He had it on his shoulder, holding against his chin,” Tritz said. “And when he took the headphones it dropped as he took off running.”
Security footage and the recovered cell phone were then handed over to Sioux City police who are now working to locate the headphone thief, Tritz said.
