STORM LAKE, Iowa | A Storm Lake resident has been cited for hunting squirrels in a park.
Bounuea Louangsarath, 75, was cited Saturday with shooting projectiles.
Police on Saturday afternoon received a report of a man hunting squirrels with a scoped rifle in Sunset Park, 400 W. Lakeshore Drive, said Storm Lake police Assistant Chief Todd Erskine. Officers found Louangsarath with an air rifle, Erskine said.
“We’ve not seen that in the past,” he said. “In town you can’t hunt them. He was using a BB gun in town, in the public park, which is illegal. It’s against city ordinance.”
Louangsarath’s air rifle was confiscated as evidence and he was cited and released pending a future court date, Erskine said.
No squirrels were injured in the incident, he said.
