SIOUX CITY -- The Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), Beta Zeta Mu, recently received the top honor and recognition at the PTK Iowa Regional Convention in Urbandale, Iowa.
Beta Zeta Mu Chapter was recognized with the Distinguished Chapter Award. This is the highest regional award for a chapter and Beta Zeta Mu Chapter has earned this prestigious recognition for 14 years. Additional awards include Honors in Action Project Award and Honorable Mention for a College Project Award. Beta Zeta Mu has also received Five Star Chapter Status, the highest attainable level within the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Organization.
Terry Murrell, president of WITCC, was recognized with three separate awards for outstanding mentor and adviser to the chapter.
Several students of the Beta Zeta Mu Chapter at WITCC also walked away with Distinguished individual awards at the regional level.
Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society of two-year colleges.
