SIOUX CITY | Briar Cliff University announces the addition of a faculty member and an administrator and the promotion of an administrator.
Dr. Andrew Shim has joined Briar Cliff as professor and chair of the health, physical education and recreation department. He has more than 20 years of higher education experience in exercise science, most recently from the University of South Dakota, where he was chair of the division of kinesiology and sport science.
Shim holds a bachelor of science in kinesiology and health promotion from Cal Poly Pomona, a master of arts in exercise science/biomechanics from California State University in Los Angeles and a doctor of education degree from United States International University in San Diego.
Shim also holds certifications with the American College of Sports Medicine, the National Strength and Conditioning Association and Dr. Kenneth’s Cooper’s Institute of Aerobic Research. He is serving as editor-in-chief for the Journal of the Behavioral and Social Sciences and as the provincial state director of North and South Dakota’s National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Beau Sudtelgte is the director of human resources at Briar Cliff. He has five years of experience in human resources, primarily in the manufacturing industry, with Sabre Industries of Sioux City and Den Hartog Industries in Hospers, Iowa.
Sudtelgte holds the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in leadership from Briar Cliff.
Shelby Reed is now the director of financial aid at Briar Cliff, after serving two years as the university’s student accounts and Perkins Loan coordinator. She has also served as academy director at Brillare Academy in Scottsdale, Ariz., and as financial aid officer for Toni and Guy Academy in Phoenix, where she managed student accounts and federal funding.
Reed holds a bachelor’s degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Ga.
