DOON, Iowa | The best-known parade entry for the Doon Days 125th celebration in Doon on Saturday? Other than American Legion Post No. 476, which presented the U.S. flag to lead-off the 104-float parade, it was likely the Abu Bekr Shrine Rat Patrol from Sioux City.

This October, the Rat Patrol celebrates its 40th anniversary, a history that dates back to 1977 when Tom Finksdale and Bob Hostad went to the Honda dealership in Sioux City and sought out a 4-wheeler called the "Odyssey" and immediately began of of doing street maneuvers.
