Rosanne C. Trizila-Stewart, 72, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017, at a local hospital.

A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at the V.F.W. Post, 2126 Court Street. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Online condolences may be left at

Rosie was born on Feb. 21, 1945, in Osceola, Neb., to Lester and Clarice Anderson. She graduated from Homer (Neb.) High School with the class of 1963. Rosie had various jobs throughout her life. She started working for the Lewis family at Lewis Electric Co. and worked there for 36 years, retiring in 2014.

Rosie enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing, rummage sales, but above all she loved being around family and friends. She was a devoted Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Rosie was always smiling and laughing. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all of her heart and was an amazing mother to her daughter, Teresa.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Stewart; daughter, Teresa Snyder; granddaughters, Ashley (Dan Rowbury) Snyder and Alexandria (Marcus) Jensen; great-grandchildren, Marilyn Rose Jensen and soon-to-arrive Nora Rose Rowbury; her brother, David (Sharon) Anderson; sister, Pauline Mounsey; and the Lewis family.

She will be missed by all.

Donald E. "Breeze" Schwarz, 79, of Granville, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, Iowa.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 25, at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, with the Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Granville, with the Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Don was born on Mar. 3, 1938, in Granville, the son of Frank and Agnes (Kobberman) Schwarz. He was raised and educated in Granville and attended public school. He then helped area farmers and did odd jobs in the community.

Survivors include his sister, Doris Pottebaum of Alton, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Darlene Schwarz of Sheldon, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Frank Jr., Gerald, Richard (Janice), and Ronald in infancy.

Sam L. Corrie, 88, of Bronson, died Thursday, May 18, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Elliot Creek Presbyterian Church in Bronson. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City.

Sam Lorentz Corrie, the son of Paul E. and Elena (Lorentzen) Corrie, was born on June 4, 1928, on the family farm outside of Bronson. He was educated in the Bronson school district, where he made many lifelong friends.

On March 16, 1946, Sam was united in marriage with Betty J. Sunderland in Dakota City. Sam was a lifelong farmer. It's not only what he did, it was what he was. Sam lived and worked on the same farm all his life, until moving to Char-Mac in September 2016, and then to Pioneer Valley Living and Rehab Center in December 2016. Betty died on April 15, 2010.

Sam is survived by three children, Jean (Noel) Plummer, Paul (Ginny) Corrie, and Michelle (Scott) Schroeder, all of Bronson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, several of whom spent summers at the farm with Aunt Betty and Uncle Sam.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patricia; wife, Betty; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline (Al) Jones and Shirley (Mel) Olson; and daughter-in-law, Judy Corrie.

The family wishes to thank Char-Mac Assisted Living in Lawton, Iowa, Pioneer Valley Living and Rehab Center in Sergeant Bluff, and the caring and compassionate nursing staff of Mercy Health Center that took such good care of him.
