Clarinetist Ben Baron, a graduate of North High School, will return to Sioux City on Sunday to make his second appearance for the Sioux City Chamber Music Association.

Baron enjoys a diverse career in New York City. Career highlights include a European tour with the London Winds, appearances with the New York Pops, American Composer’s Orchestra, American Ballet Theatre Orchestra, Belgian Radio Orchestra, Moscow Chamber Orchestra and as acting member of the Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra.

Baron is the principal clarinetist of the Chamber Orchestra of New York and the New York Symphonic Ensemble, which tours Japan every summer.

Solo engagements include the New Haven Symphony, Buena Vista University Band, Lehman College Band, The Knights, and the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra. He has also appeared with the Tommy Dorsey Band, Broadway productions of "Wicked" and his klezmer band, Balagan.

Baron earned his doctoral degree from the Manhattan School of Music, master’s degree from Yale University and bachelor of music from Arizona State University. He studied for a year at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Gent, Belgium through a grant from the Belgian American Educational Foundation. Baron has been an artist with Rico Reeds since 2010.
