SIOUX CITY – Missouri River Conference softball champion Bishop Heelan has placed four on the 15-member All-MRAC first team.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton, the MRAC runner-up, led all teams with five first-team honorees as voted on by league coaches.

A trio of Crusaders, Lexi Ricke, Lexie Stolen and Aubrey Wolf, are honored for the third time, part of six who earn first-team honors three times from this year’s squad.

Ricke, a senior, went 10-0 in the circle with a 1.03 earned run average and 90 strikeouts in 61 innings helping Heelan claim its first league title since 2010.

Stolen, a senior, hit .552 (16-for-29) in 10 league games while Wolf, a junior, (.429) shared league-high honors of 17 RBIs with East junior Markee Gruis (.514), a first-time honoree.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton seniors Merrin Van Velzen (.426) and Kami Schlag (.348) are also three-time first-team honorees while teammates Bradee Bouman (.439, 5-1, 1.18 ERA), Josie Clay (.390) and Madelyn Mogensen (.432), a repeat selection, also earned first-team honors.

North sophomore Hailey Hoogers, the conference leader in hitting at .571, is a first-time honoree on the first team. Hoogers was one of four players that had 20 hits in league play along with Van Velzen, Cropley and East freshman Katlyn Tucker (.526), also a first-time selection to the first team.

Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln senior Kalyn Damgaard is another of the three-time first-team selections while Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson placed two on the first team in senior catcher Teayana Leytham and sophomore outfielder Caitlyn Jones.
