CHEROKEE, Iowa | Riley Donahue provided 36 kills, 23 digs, 10 blocks and three ace serves while leading East's volleyball team to wins in three of five matches at Saturday's Cherokee Tournament.

East opened with a 21-18, 21-8 win over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, then suffered consecutive losses to Boyden-Hull (21-11, 20-22, 15-12) and Cherokee (21-19, 19-21, 15-12). Coach Lisa Rembe's squad then posted wins over both Siouxland Christian (20-25, 25-11, 18-16) and North (25-21, 22-25, 15-13).

Emma Harmelink supplied 28 kills, 16 blocks, 11 digs and four ace serves for the Black Raiders, now 9-10 on the season. Kirstin Sykes had 24 kills, 34 digs and five blocks while Lineya Wells had 21 kills and four blocks.

Setter Chloe Kramer had 102 assists along with 26 digs and 13 ace serves. Josie Blake had 41 digs while Kaitlyn Stoos had four ace serves for East, which is idle until Thursday when it plays at Sergeant Bluff-Luton.

NORTH GOES 2-3: North volleyball team went 2-3 at the Cherokee tournament.

North lost to ninth-ranked (2A) Hinton (12-21, 21-10, 15-9), defeated Siouxland Christian (21-12, 23-21), lost to MOC-Floyd Valley (21-16, 21-12), defeated Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn (25-21, 25-16) and lost to East (25-21, 22-25, 15-13).

Grace McLoud recorded 32 kills for the Stars (12-6), Kaitlyn Mulder had 26 and Kylee Eickholt added 23. Hailey Hoogers dished out 60 assists and added 42 digs. Maeve Coughlin logged 31 assists. McKenzie McClure tallied 33 digs.

Hinton was second in the tournament with a 3-2 mark.

Bryce Klein finished the day with 13 blocks and Hallie Reuter had a total of 84 assists for the Blackhawks.
