SIOUX FALLS -- Sioux Falls Washington jumped out early and went on to post a 75-69 victory over seventh-ranked East on Saturday during the Sanford Pentagon Classic.
The Warriors led 23-9 at the end of the first quarter and led from start to finish in the final contest of 10 on the day at the Pentagon.
Topher Zahn, a 5-11 senior guard, led Washington (9-6) with 18 points. Zach Heins, a 6-7 senior, had 15 points while Gabe Person, a 6-3 junior, chipped in 13 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Logan Uttecht added 11 points for a team that has won six of its previous seven games.
Aidan Vanderloo led the Black Raiders with 25 points while Van Rees added 14 points and six rebounds.
East, falling to 14-3, trailed by six entering the fourth quarter, but could only cut the deficit as narrow as four in the final frame.
