ALGONA, Iowa -- Bishop Heelan posted a 5-1 mark Sunday during the CYO volleyball tournament at Bishop Garrigan high school.

The Crusaders posted wins over Storm Lake St. Mary's (21-11, 21-2), Remsen St. Mary's (21-8, 21-5), Bishop Garrigan (21-9, 21-9), Fort Dodge St. Edmond (21-10, 21-8) and fifth-ranked (1A) Gehlen Catholic (21-15, 21-11). Top-ranked (3A) Kuemper Catholic downed Heelan 21-10, 21-14.

Kuemper Catholic posted a 6-0 mark as the lone unbeaten in the seven-team event.

Sam McCabe had a strong tournament with 33 kills, 33 digs and six blocks in the 12 sets of play. Nicole Jacobson had 26 kills and Alex Hope 20.

Allison Bermel had 29 digs, Jacobson 28 and Taylor Wilshire 24 while seters Emma LaFleur had 51 assists and Jordyn Knapp 33.

LaFleur, McCabe and Hope were named to the all-tournament team for Heelan.

The Crusaders, now 12-6, will play Missouri River Conference matches Tuesday at North and Thursday against West at home.
