SERGEANT BLUFF, Iowa | Daniel Wright passed for 220 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the fifth-ranked (3A) Sergeant Bluff-Luton football team defeated Storm Lake 43-29 here Friday.

Wright completed 9 of 12 passes and tossed a 60-yard touchdown pass to Sam DeMoss and a 1-yard scoring strike to Conner Groves.

SB-L (9-0) finished with 258 rushing yards and averaged 6.8 yards per carry. Jorma Schwedler ran for 97 yards and scored on a 2-yard run. Dylan Laughlin ran for 67 yards and scored on a 52-yard run. Zach Schultz ran for 65 yards and had a 1-yard touchdown run.

Kevin Duque completed 11 of 12 passes for 132 yards and two scores for Storm Lake (6-3). Duque’s only pass that wasn’t completed was an interception. Duque also ran for 85 yards.

SB-L led 14-0 at halftime and 29-6 through three quarters. Storm Lake outscored SB-L 23-14 in the fourth quarter but never got any closer than 14 points.

The Warriors, champions in Class 3A District 1, will host a playoff game on Friday.
