OMAHA | South Sioux City senior Armando Garcia will play for the South team in the 24th annual Nebraska Shrine Soccer Classic, set for a 2 o’clock start this afternoon at Morrison Stadium on the Creighton University campus.
Garcia scored 17 goals this season for a South Sioux City team that posted a 19-4 record and finished second in the Class B state tournament. He will continue his soccer career at Iowa Lakes Community College.
The match is for players who were high school seniors this season. Players are nominated by their coaches based on on-field skills and performance, performance in the classroom, involvement in the community and overall citizenship.
Shrine coaches selected the teams from the nominations.
The girls game will start at 12:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the stadium.
