STORMY SENSORY SHAPE POEMS…Third Grade Woodbury Central

Tornadoes!

It was a warm summer day and I was at my friend’s house.

Then I heard a BANG! We were so scared.

We ran inside and the lights were off.

We asked my friend’s mom if she

turned off the lights. She said, “No.”

She looked on the phone and there was a

tornado warning. My friend and I were

really scared. We looked out the

window and the sky was green.

Next we went to the basement.

We heard a tornado. We were

screaming very hard. Then it

was silent. We went outside

and my friend’s house was ruined.

All the trees were gone. There

were people standing outside.

Then it was over.

I went back

To my house

and had lunch.

Back home.

Safe

and

sound.

Whew!

It was a hot day and I was sweating. Then a cold breeze ran

down my spine. My mom hollered, ”MAX!! Get to the

basement!!”I grabbed my book and ran in the

house down the stairs with Mom behind me.

I jumped to the ground. A couple minutes

later I had to go to the bathroom.

BANG! The lights were out.

OW! BANG! The

lights were on.

Train noises.

Then…

silence.

I was at my brother’s baseball game.

It was a hot day. All of a sudden I

felt a chill. The wind was

blowing hard. It was raining

thundering, lightning.

And then the wind blew.

We had to go home.

We went down to the

basement. Then we

heard a big BOOM!

A tree fell down. All of

a sudden it was silent.

My mom went on the

news. She said it was

okay to go outside.

Almost all of the

trees were down.

Thank goodness

we are all

okay.

One day when I was five years old and I was out swinging,

my dad yelled, “TORNADO!!” I ran inside

and got my dog Phoebe and I ran downstairs.

Thunder boomed and lightning crashed.

Then the silence began. We fell

asleep in the basement. It was

fine as long as we were

there safe. The sound

started to get louder

and LOUDER.

The door fell

off and the

walls rattled.

 It was over.

We could

sleep

now.

One night I was playing in my room. Then…

BOOM! BA-BOOM! The lights went out.

I was only three, so I didn’t know what

was happening. I kept on playing.

Then I heard a noise that sounded

like a loud train. I was so scared.

I grabbed my blanket. Then I

heard my mom say that

the storm was done.

“BUT, WHERE

IS MILEY?”

Then I said,

“HI!” and my

whole family

said, “WOW,

we are glad

you are

safe.”
