2 pounds butternut squash, halved lengthwise and seeded

1/4 cup pure maple syrup 

1/4 cup butter

2 tablespoons bourbon, apple juice or apple cider

1/2 teaspoon salt

Put squash halves, cut-side up, on ungreased 3 quart rectangular baking dish. In a saucepan, combine syrup, butter and bourbon; cook over medium heat. Pour over cut side of sauce. Sprinkle with salt. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 45 minutes.
