SIOUX CITY | The Woodbury County park system is expanding access to some of its cabins year-round.

Woodbury County Conservation Board Director Rick Schneider on Thursday announced the cabins at Snyder Bend Park and Southwood Conservation Area will now be available for rental throughout the fall and winter seasons.

Conservation Board members in a November meeting approved keeping the cabins at these two parks open, after numerous requests from people asking to use them during the off-season for hunting and fishing trips or family gatherings.

The expansion won't apply to cabins at Little Sioux Park near Correctionville, which will remain closed from Nov. 1 to April 30.

Four two-bedroom family cabins are available at Snyder Bend Park near Salix. Each cabin features two queen-size beds and a queen-size sofa sleeper in the living room, accommodating up to six adults, plus lots of amenities, such as fully equipped kitchen and technology pieces such as  flat-screen television.

Two one-bedroom housekeeping cabins are offered at Southwood Conservation Area near Smithland, Iowa. Each unit features many amenities as well.
