Mildred Stevenson of Sioux City, formerly of Cherokee, Iowa, celebrated her 90th birthday with a gathering on May 5.

Her children include Thomas Stevenson deceased in 1980, Karen Stark Thorton of Colorado, and Fail Haight of Sioux City. She has five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mildred was born on May 5, 1928, in Primghar, Iowa. Mildred began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse in Tilden Township, Cherokee County, Iowa. She was married to Theo Stevenson on March 11, 1947, at Quimby (Iowa) United Methodist Church. She was at home for several years raising her family. She returned to teaching in 1970 at Immaculate Conception School in Cherokee. In the mid 1970s, until her retirement in 1993, she taught at Galva-Holstein, teaching kindergarten and middle school.
