SIOUX CITY | A Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit seized 3/4 of a pound of marijuana Wednesday morning.

Woodbury County Maj. Greg Stallman said someone found a suspicious box passing through Sioux City, but would not clarify how it was being transported.

The unit responded to the call and K9 Kota alerted to the box, which was then searched and the brick of marijuana was located, Stallman said.

Stallman wouldn't provide any further information about how the drugs were discovered.

The investigation has been handed over to the Tri-State Drug Task Force, Stallman said.

Earlier this year, K9 Kota seized 15 pounds of marijuana in a traffic stop.
