Coach Luke Strand’s Musketeers are 2-0 this season against this weekend’s opponents, with goaltender Matt Jurusik (2-3-2, 2.54 goals-against-average) posting both wins … Sioux City posted a 2-1 shootout win over Sioux Falls on Oct. 14, as Solag Bakich (1 goal, 2 assists) scored a second-period goal that tied the game, Micah Miller (3 assists) scored the shootout goal and Jurusik had 30 saves, not including the five he posted in the shootout … Team scoring leader Sampo Ranta (5, 2) provided the overtime goal that gave the Musketeers a 3-2 win over Fargo in the season-opener on Oct. 7 … Both Ranta and Hayden Rowan (2, 3) each recorded a goal and an assist in the win over Fargo … Micah Miller is the team’s top scorer as of late, registering three assists while scoring in three of his last four games … Power-play goals from Cole Koepke (3 goals), Keegan Mantaro (1, 1) and Samuel Salonen (1 goal) in the second period of last Saturday’s 5-3 loss to Lincoln pushed the Musketeers to 11th in the United States Hockey League with a 14.6 percent power play that includes six goals in 41 assists … Each of the points for Mathieu De St. Phalle (1, 2) come on the power play where’s second on the team, one point behind Ranta’s four points (2, 2) … Randy Hernandez (2, 2) has equaled the goal total from the 2015-16 season when he had two goals and four assists for Team USA … The Musketeers need a better first-period start, as they’ve been outscored 12-2 in the game’s first 20 minutes which included the 4-0 disadvantage that came in Saturday’s loss to Lincoln … Both Sioux Falls and Fargo have scored 10 first-period goals this season.


Jack St. Ivany and Colin Swoyer are each tied for second in scoring (8 points) among USHL defensemen, each of them providing a goal and seven assists … St. Ivany, who assisted on a second-period power play goal from Kirill Panyukov (4 goals, 1 assist) in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Musketeers on Oct. 14 at the Tyson Events Center, had a goal and an assist in a 7-6 shootout loss to Cedar Rapids last Saturday … Artem Ivanyuzhenkov (4, 2) scored two power play goals in the win and is one of three tied for first in the league with four power play goals … Khristian Acosta (3, 6) posted his second 1-goal, 2-assist game of the season while Carson Dimoff (2, 3) added a goal and an assist … Reid Stephanson leads Sioux Falls in scoring with 10 points (2, 8) while team goal leader Adam Daue (6, 1) has had just one assist in his last five games. Sioux Falls ranks fourth in the league with a 29.2 penalty kill percentage that includes 14 goals in 48 chances … Mikhail Berdin (4-3-1) is fourth among the league’s goaltenders with a 1.97 GAA.


Currently tied for first in the Western Conference with Tri-City, Fargo has outscored opponents 29-12 while winning each of its last six games … The Force had four players who are tied for fourth in the USHL scoring race at 12 points – Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup (9 goals, 3 assists), Grant Hebert (5, 7) and Griffin Loughran (5, 7) … Schmidt-Svejstrup, who scored a goal in a 3-2 overtime loss to Sioux City on Oct. 7, has contributed eight goals and two assists during his eight-game scoring streak … Hebert has four goals and four assists in a four-game scoring streak, while Loughran’s three goals and three assists in a four-game scoring streak includes a 3-goal, 3-assist effort in a 6-5 win over Des Moines on Oct. 28 … Ryan Bischel (5-2-2, 2.30 goals-against-average) received USHL goaltender of the week honors, which was highlighted by his first shutout of the season in last Friday’s 5-0 win over Cedar Rapids … Second in the league with 40 goals, Fargo also ranks third on the power play (12 of 41, 29.3 percent).
