STORM LAKE, Iowa | An argument over an air mattress resulted in charges being filed in Storm Lake, police said Thursday.

Storm Lake police early Wednesday responded to a report of an assault in the 1700 block of Tulip Lane, authorities said in a statement. Witnesses at the scene said a dispute over a broken air mattress escalated into a physical fight, police said.

Police later used a search warrant and found a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, the statement said.

Five Storm Lake residents were arrested. Charges are:

* Larry McCullough III, 22, with assault, possession of marijuana, and gathering where controlled substances are used;

* Lavonte McCullough, 20, with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and gathering where controlled substances are used;

* Henry Jackson, 20; Stephanie Vrieze, 18; and Denzel Eaton, 21; with gathering where controlled substances are used. Jackson also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

They are being held at Buena Vista County Jail on $1,000 bonds.
