LE MARS | Law enforcement agencies were searching Saturday evening for a male suspect involved in a domestic disturbance Saturday afternoon.
According to Lt. Bob Bendlin with the Le Mars Police Department, police responded to a report of a disturbance in Le Mars about 3:40 p.m.
The suspect left the scene before officers arrived, Bendlin said. Officers in Le Mars and the Merrill Police Department searched for the suspect.
Bendlin said a Merrill officer located the suspect near Merrill and a confrontation ensued before the suspect fled the area on foot. The officer was not injured.
The suspect was still at large by 8:30 p.m., and Bendlin said officials had not released his name.
Officers were being aided in the search by the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office, Sioux County Sheriff's Office, Plymouth County Conservation Department, Hinton Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
Charges were pending against the suspect, Bendlin said.
