SIOUX CITY -- The Sioux City has landed another convention -- the Iowa Museum Association Annual Conference, which will meet at the Sioux City Convention Center in 2013.

"We will have museum directors from across the state of Iowa here," Aran Rush, executive director of the Events Facilities Department, said Friday. "We should have at least 125 museum directors in attendance. ...It will have a $120,000 economic impact."

Rush said this is believed the first time the state group will meet in Sioux City.

Officials with the Iowa Museum Association announced they had selected the conference sites for 2011 (Des Moines), 2012 (Johnson County) and 2013 (Sioux City.) This year's convention was held in Waterloo. In 2010, the association will meet in Grinnell.

The association is comprised of more than 200 museums from almost every county in Iowa. The museums range from history and art museums to local historical societies, zoos, botanical gardens, county conservation bureaus, children's museums, historic homes and living history sties.
