SIOUX CITY | Bicyclists will have the opportunity to ride recreation trails in three states Saturday, when the Tri-State Trails Tour bike ride unfolds.

The tour will be held for a 13th year, and in 2017 it is sponsored by Siouxland Trails Foundation and Women Aware.

The route varies from year to year, depending on the starting point. This year people will leave from the Hilton Garden Inn, at 1100 Larsen Park Road, in Sioux City. They will ride through Riverside Park in Sioux City to the Adams Nature Preserve in South Dakota and then into South Sioux City, Nebraska.

People don't have to ride the full route, but ride options range from six to 33 miles.

The cost is $12 per person. Check-in begins at 9 a.m., and the ride begins at 10 a.m.

Registration forms are available at area bicycle shops, online at or visit Siouxland Trails or Women Aware Facebook pages. For further information, contact Katie Colling at Women Aware (712) 258-4174.

There was a one-year hiatus of the trails tour in 2010, due to Interstate 29 construction work, which resulted in closure of the riverfront recreation trail.

The Siouxland Trails Foundation is working to connect various tri-state trails.
