SIOUX CITY | The Catholic School Foundation of the Diocese of Sioux City has announced Jody and Gina Sitzmann, of Sioux City, as the 2017 Chair Couple for the 21st annual Bishop's Dinner for Catholic Schools, scheduled for Oct. 1 at the Sioux City Convention Center.

Married for 34 years, the Sitzmanns are members of Blessed Sacrament in Sioux City and graduates of Briar Cliff University. Their three children attended Blessed Sacrament grade school and graduated from Bishop Heelan High School.

"We are excited to help recognize our outstanding teachers, staff and administrators who work tirelessly each day providing quality education while creating an atmosphere for our children to learn the values of empathy, respect and gratitude -- all within the context of our Catholic faith," the couple said in a news release.

Greg McDermott, head coach for Creighton University's men's basketball team, will serve as the keynote speaker for the Bishop's Dinner, which serves as the single largest fundraiser benefiting 16 Catholic school systems throughout Northwest Iowa. All proceeds from the dinner go directly to the schools.

Tickets to the dinner will be available for sale beginning Aug. 14. More information can be found at scdiocese.org or by calling the Diocese of Sioux City at 712-255-7524.
