EMERSON, Neb. | An Arkansas man who was involved in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon near Emerson died, officials said.

Todd Benjamin, 52, of Lonoke, Arkansas, was driving a pickup truck west on Highway 35 east of Emerson around 3:30 p.m. when it collided with a trailer pulled by an eastbound sport utility vehicle, said Nebraska State Patrol Trooper Brian Malone.

Malone said after the collision, Benjamin’s vehicle rolled. The cause of Benjamin’s death was not immediately known.

Three passengers in Benjamin’s vehicle were taken to a Sioux City hospital and treated for minor injuries, Malone said. The two occupants of the SUV were uninjured, he said.

The highway was blocked off for several hours as crews investigated the scene. It reopened to traffic at 7:09 p.m.

Malone said the cause of the accident was still under investigation and that officials had not determined by late Wednesday evening who caused the collision.
