SIOUX CITY | Sioux City's Cone Park is expected to re-open Tuesday after closing to the public over the holiday weekend due to the extreme cold.

The park, which closed on Sunday and Monday, is expected to re-open Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m.

Anyone who had reserved a spot to tube at the park's tubing hill on the days it was closed can either receive household credit or be rescheduled for a later date, according to a post on the park's Facebook page.

Temperatures Sunday night broke a New Year's Eve record, dipping to 24 degrees below zero. Monday's high was in the single digits below zero, with a low of 18 below zero.

Tuesday is expected to be slightly warmer, with a high of 17 and wind chills around 29 below zero, according to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls.

Cone Park, 3800 Line Drive, features a tubing hill, day lodge and fire pit. A refrigerated ice skating rink is expected to open later this month.
