SIOUX FALLS | A Yankton, South Dakota, man has pleaded guilty to a 2016 bank robbery.
David Giese, 26, entered his plea Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Sioux Falls to one count of bank robbery. Sentencing was set for Nov. 6. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
Giese walked into the Wells Fargo bank at 200 Cedar St. on July 26, 2016, while holding a package and demanded money, claiming that the package was an explosive device. The package was later found to not be an explosive. Police said no other weapon was used during the robbery.
According to terms of a plea agreement filed in the case, Giese will pay restitution of $6,900 to the bank.
