ROCK VALLEY, Iowa | A two-vehicle accident Friday outside Rock Valley sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries, according to a press release from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at 2:48 p.m. to an accident on Garfield Avenue, about three miles northeast of Rock Valley, the report says.

Dustin Vanderbrink, 23, of Rock Rapids, was driving a truck southbound on Garfield Avenue and was making a left turn when he collided with a northbound vehicle driven by Ryan Lamfers, 17, of Hull, Iowa, officials said.

Lamfers and passenger Colby Lamfers, 14, of Hull, were transported by ambulance to Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley, then airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Vanderbrink was cited for failing to yield the right of way when making a left turn.
