SERGEANT BLUFF | A fire investigation is ongoing in Sergeant Bluff to determine the cause of a Wednesday night fire that left a duplex red-tagged.

Sergeant Bluff Fire Chief Anthony Gaul said the department was called to a duplex at 1342-1344 Vandenburg Circle at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday. Crews remained on scene until sometime after 9 p.m.

Gaul said that the investigation into the fire is ongoing, and he could not comment on the fire's cause. The building's residents were able to find shelter after the fire.

"All occupants were able to get out," he said. "They all have made arrangements, and the Red Cross was helping."

The building has been red-tagged as unfit for occupation. Whether it's a total loss will be determined later.

"They'll have to determine whether they're going to remodel that, or what options they have," Gaul said.
