SIOUX CITY -- Crews from the city of Sioux City have closed the intersection of West Third and Perry Streets after a sinkhole appeared.

According to a Facebook post from the Sioux City Police Department, the sinkhole was caused by a washout.

The repair is projected to be completed by Feb. 9, weather pending, according to Justin Pottorff, a civil engineer with the city of Sioux City.

An unposted detour utilizing Bluff Street, West Second Street and Kansas Street is available.
