Was that thunder that you heard early Monday morning?

Many Siouxland residents reported hearing a rumble at around 7:30 a.m. Monday.

Brad Adams, the observing program leader for the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, said snow thunder and snow lightning is a very common phenomenon in the middle of a strong storm front.

"I'm sure people don't expect thunder and lightning in a blizzard but it happens more often than you think," he said.
