STORM LAKE, Iowa | A woman was flown to Sioux City and a man was transported by ambulance to a Storm Lake hospital following a two-vehicle rollover crash Wednesday morning in Buena Vista County.
The incident occurred around 7:50 a.m. at the intersection of 90th Avenue and 570th Street near Storm Lake, according to a news release from the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say the crash occurred when Sharon Koch, of rural Storm Lake, was driving south on 90th Avenue and failed to yield the right-of-way to an eastbound vehicle driven by Ronald Morris, of Alta, Iowa. The vehicles collided in the intersection, causing both to roll.
Morris' vehicle entered the field southeast of the intersection, and Koch's vehicle traveled east on 570th Street, coming to rest in the north ditch, the release said.
Morris was transported by ambulance to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, and Koch was flown by Mercy Air Care to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. The release did not detail the status of their injuries.
Assisting the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office and Mercy Air Care were the Alta and Storm Lake fire departments, Storm Lake Police Department and Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Paramedics.
