SIOUX CITY | A driver swerving to avoid another vehicle flipped her vehicle and landed between two homes Thursday afternoon.

The accident took place after 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of Court Street.

Sioux City Police Sgt. Jeremy McClure said a vehicle was traveling southbound on Court and another car was heading east on 10th Street. The eastbound car ran, or failed to yield,  at the stop sign and causing the southbound vehicle to swerve into oncoming traffic, hit the curb and flip sideways coming to rest between two residences.

"We have conflicting reports that her vehicle was actually struck or she swerved just to avoid the car," he said.  "...The other car involved did not stick around."

The female driver was "shook up" but was able to exit the car unharmed, according to police.

The accident remains under investigation.
