IDA GROVE, Iowa | Two Colorado men were arrested early Wednesday after deputies with the Ida County Sheriff's Office found more than 4.5 pounds of marijuana and 0.25 pounds of cocaine inside their car.
According to their Facebook page, the drugs were discovered during a traffic stop for a minor violation at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 20 in rural Ida County.
Upon approaching the vehicle, deputies could smell marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The county's K-9, Anou, was deployed and sniffed out the narcotics, the post said.
The drugs were hidden in the vehicle in several packages.
A large amount of money was also seized, the post said.
John Wesley Reed, 42, and Michael Christopher Taylor, 33, both from Aurora, Colorado, have been charged for possession with the intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana. They also face drug tax stamp violations and are booked into the Ida County Jail.
