SIOUX CITY | Three Le Mars, Iowa, residents have been charged with forgery and theft following a counterfeiting investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and local law enforcement.
Kurt Walter Jones, 26, was arrested on those charges Friday, joining Brittany Anne Derby, 29, and Jackelen Danielle Hartsock, 27, who had been charged Tuesday.
According to criminal complaints, the investigation began after the three were seen attempting several cash transactions at the Hard Rock Casino in Sioux City on Aug. 5. The paper cash was found to be counterfeit.
As of Friday evening, Jones was being held in Woodbury County Jail on $5,000 bond.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation worked the case with assistance from the Le Mars Police Department, Sioux City Police Department and Plymouth County Sheriff's Office.
