STORM LAKE, Iowa -- A former employee at the Storm Lake Bomgaars store has pleaded guilty to charges related to the theft of more than $7,000 in cash from the store.
Abigail Clark, 19, of Early, Iowa, entered her plea Monday in Buena Vista County District Court to single counts of second-degree fraudulent practice and identity theft. Sentencing was set for March 26.
According to a plea agreement, Clark will receive a deferred judgment and be placed on probation for three years. She would also be required to pay a $750 civil penalty and restitution. Four counts of identity theft and a single count of commission of a specified unlawful activity would be dismissed.
Clark pleaded guilty to forging customer names and fraudulently returning fictitious merchandise for approximately $7,046 in cash within the store from Oct. 26 through Dec. 4 and then keeping the money.
During the investigation, police recovered more than $400 in merchandise bought with the money stolen from Bomgaars.
