ALBERT CITY, Iowa -- Authorities say an electrical malfunction is to blame for a blaze that destroyed a house in rural Albert City on Monday
The Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office issued a statement today saying a deputy on patrol discovered a house on 210th Avenue engulfed in flames about 2:30 a.m.
The Albert City and Marathon fire departments were at the scene for about four hours.
According to the statement, the house and contents were a total loss. An investigation later determined the fire was caused by a malfunction in the service wires to the house.
