MILFORD, Iowa | District Judge Patrick M. Carr will retire from Iowa's 3rd Judicial District bench on July 31.
Carr, of Milford, will assume senior judge status in the 3rd District and Iowa Court of Appeals after his retirement.
A Drake University Law School graduate, Carr was appointed to the bench in 1995 and served in the District 3A judicial election subdistrict, which includes Lyon, Osceola, O'Brien, Cherokee, Dickinson, Clay, Buena Vista, Emmet, Palo Alto and Kossuth counties. He was an assistant Clay County attorney and worked in private practice before his appointment to the bench.
District 3 court administrator Leesa McNeil said that because of state budgetary constraints, the vacancy created by Carr's retirement will not be filled until July 1, 2018, unless otherwise ordered.
