GEORGE, Iowa -- A Northwest Iowa man was arrested after a high-speed chase in which police said he drove 70 mph through the town of George in Lyon County.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office in a Friday release said deputies helped with a pursuit after a man driving a 2003 Chevrolet pickup entered the county southeast of George just before 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The release said the pickup had been reported stolen from Estherville, Iowa, and was driven by Jarrod Jay Bandow, 42, of Sheldon. Bandow drove on streets of George at speeds from 60 mph to 70 mph, and he ran for a short time after leaving the vehicle on North Dell Street.
Bandow was arrested on the felony charge of eluding, plus several misdemeanor charges related to his driving. Bandow has outstanding warrants from three counties, including intent to commit sexual abuse in Osceola County.
He was held in O'Brien County Jail.
