SPENCER, Iowa | Two 18-year-olds from Spencer allegedly committed felony burglaries days after they bonded out of jail for felony theft charges.
According to a criminal complaint, Corey Wilhite and Austin Strang were reportedly seen with a stolen boat in the Lost Island area on July 12.
When deputies with the Clay County Sheriff's Office arrived, they were detained and questioned. The complaint said Strang admitted to taking the boat from Spencer the day before.
It was also determined the pickup Wilhite was driving was stolen from Gustoff Salvage in Spencer.
They were transported to the Clay County Jail. Both were charged with second-degree theft and Wilhite was cited with no valid driver's license.
They were released after posting bond and arrested again on Tuesday for two burglaries, according to a Spencer Police Department press release.
The first was a report by the Spencer Dream Center of a burglary during the overnight hours Monday. The second was at Salon M Spa, which reported being burglarized between July 15 and July 18.
The release did not detail the burglaries.
Strang was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, a class D felony. Wilhite was charged with one count of third-degree burglary.
They were both booked in the Clay County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
