SIOUX CITY | Two men accused of taking part in a 2016 beating that left the victim in a coma have pleaded not guilty.
Jeremiah Becker, 20, entered his written plea Friday in Woodbury County District Court to one count of willful injury. Keegan Kinnaman, 20, entered his not guilty plea Wednesday to willful injury.
They are among five who have been charged in a July 22, 2016, group beating of Bradley Coan, then 22, of Waterbury, Nebraska, in the 700 block of Riverside Drive. Police said that the group beat Coan with poles resembling those found on a chain-link fence. They also kicked him and hit him with their fists. One of the attackers also stole Coan's cellphone.
Coan had to be induced into a coma because of serious brain injuries, court documents said.
