SIOUX CITY | A 45-year-old Sioux City man is facing a pair of sexual abuse charges after Sioux City Police say he inappropriately touched an 11-year-old girl and a woman diagnosed with an intellectual disability in separate incidents.
William Leon Bowles was charged Tuesday afternoon with second- and third-degree sexual abuse. He was being held in the Woodbury County Jail on $25,000 bond.
According to court documents, sometime between June 1 and July 4, Bowles was at a cookout and started a conversation with a woman who has an intellectual disability and lives in a group home. During the conversation, he unbuttoned her pants, touched her inappropriately and told her he wanted to have sex with her, according to documents. Documents say he stopped after the victim told him to.
Then, documents say on Tuesday Bowles was in an apartment with an 11-year-old girl who was sleeping on a couch and placed his hand down the girl's pants, touching her inappropriately.
Bowles admitted to both instances and was cooperative during the investigation, documents said. His next court appearance will be 9 a.m. Aug. 11.
