SIOUX CITY -- A Sioux City man was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years in prison for sexually abusing a young girl.

James White, 49, pleaded guilty in Woodbury County District Court to one count of second-degree sexual abuse. He must serve at least 17.5 years of his sentence before he's eligible for parole.

District Judge Jeffrey Neary also gave White a special sex offender sentence in which he will be on lifetime parole after he's released from prison. If he were to violate terms of the special sentence, he could be returned to prison. White also will be required to register with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry after completing his prison sentence.

White was arrested March 2 after the girl, who was under age 12, was taken to UnityPoint Health -- St. Luke's with a serious injury to her genital area.

White admitted Tuesday that he had sexual contact with the girl on or about March 1.

White was accused of having sexual contact with two other girls who were under age 12. As part of a plea agreement, two counts of second-degree sexual abuse related to those incidents were dismissed.
