SIOUX CITY | A Sioux City man was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison for stealing two vehicles and a firearm.
Antonio Zavala, 23, pleaded guilty in Woodbury County District Court to two counts of second-degree theft and one count of felon in possession of a firearm. Charges of third-degree theft, assault while participating in a felony and eluding were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Zavala admitted to stealing a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica and a handgun belonging to the vehicle owner on July 8 and stealing a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado on July 17.
Police arrested Zavala July 17 after a short vehicle pursuit in which Zavala jumped from the stolen vehicle, which crashed into a parked vehicle. Police caught Zavala after a short foot pursuit.
Zavala must pay restitution for damage done to both vehicles he stole.
