ESTHERVILLE, Iowa | A teen who carried a gun on the campus of Iowa Great Lakes Community College in Estherville is in custody, police said Thursday.

Officers on Wednesday evening responded to a report of a man with a gun in his waistband, police said in a statement.

The person was arrested at a residence in the 1300 block of Third Avenue South, police said.

His is 17 and a resident of Estherville. Police are not releasing his name because of his age.

He is charged with misdemeanor counts of carrying weapons, fourth-degree theft and disorderly conduct.

No one was hurt. The handgun has been located, police said.

The teen was taken to the Youth Emergency Services Center in Cherokee, Iowa, police said.
